OSSIAN â€” Columbia Cityâ€™s softball teamâ€™s 6-0 win over Norwell Monday night wasnâ€™t just another win.
It was the Lady Eagleâ€™s seventh win in the Northeast Hoosier Conference, taking the conference title with an undefeated (7-0) NHC record.
â€śIâ€™m very proud of our girls for winning conference,â€ť Head Coach Steve Cox said.
Not only was the feat special for the team, but it was especially important for Columbia City pitcher Cassie Vodde, who didnâ€™t give up any earned runs in any conference games this season.
â€śIt was another great game by Cassie Vodde,â€ť Cox said.
Vodde tallied 11 strike-outs and gave up one hit in seven innings of play.
The senior pitcher is now 15-0. She also went 2-for-3 from the plate.
The Lady Eagles scored three runs in the second inning, on in the third and added two more for good measure in the seventh frame to make the final score 6-0.
Columbia City got 12 hits, with Allie Vodde collecting three of them. Vodde was 3-for-4 with a double and two scored runs.
Kaylee Parks went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.View more articles in:
