COLUMBIA CITY â€” The building at the corner of Line and Van Buren Streets is expected to be a parking lot by June, officials say.
Columbia Cityâ€™s Redevelopment Commission (RDC) purchased the building located at 306 W. Van Buren St. from the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which has since relocated to a building on South Main Street.
While the RDC hoped to utilize the building until the property was sold to a developer, plans were changed.
â€śThe RDC decided it wasnâ€™t economical or feasible to repair the building,â€ť said Community Development Director Jeff Walker. â€śThe roof is shot. We had to bring in electricians to disconnect certain wiring because water is leaking in the building.â€ť
