Convicted sex offender to stand trial

COLUMBIA CITY — The former Columbia City man facing charges of child seduction will go to trial in June and the prosecution has attached more weight to the charges.
DeWayne E. Stewart, 47, will face a trial by jury June 21 in Whitley County Circuit Court.
Following the announcement of the court date by Circuit Court Judge James Heuer, Whitley County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Rentschler approached the bench and submitted what he called an “enhancement to Count One.”
