CORRECT COLOR: EMA explains travel advisories, warnings

COLUMBIA CITY — Many are familiar with the three levels of snow emergencies, but that is a system of the past.

In 2012, Whitley County’s Commissioners signed an ordinance that dismissed the Level I, Level II and Level III snow emergencies, and replaced them with “travel advisories.”

Whitley County wasn’t alone in the change over, as much of the rest of Indiana has come together for a more unified program.

“It makes it a lot easier when we’re all on the same system,” said Cathy Broxon-Ball, director of Whitley County’s Emergency Management Agency.
