COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s Council faced a financial dilemma Tuesday.
When the county proposed its increase to the Cumulative Capital Fund (CCF), it voted to put it at .03.
The Department of Government and Local Finance informed County Auditor Jen McGuire it would only approve the county raise the rate to .0287.
Thus, the council needed to trim $108,475 from its proposed budget for the CCF.
By a 5-0 vote, the council agreed to cut the equipment in the CCF to $7,525. It had previously been at $74,000.
