County hosts Shop with a Sheriff

December 20, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — As many people are wrapping up their Christmas shopping this week, Whitley County’s Sheriff’s Department lent a helping hand to local children.

Eighteen children spent the evening with WCSD staff, first having dinner at the Whitley County Government Center, before heading to Walmart to go shopping.

Each child received a $100 gift card to spend on toys, clothing and other necessities.

Children were chosen by guidance counselors from all three Whitley County school districts.

The event was coordinated by Tim Johnson, of the WCSD reserves.
