CRASH: Man seriously injured in crash on railroad tracks

COLUMBIA CITY — A man was taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital with serious injuries Friday afternoon after a collision on West Old Trail Road on the railroad tracks.

A truck occupied by the injured driver and a child, who was uninjured, hit a railroad service truck which was parked at the crest of the road.

The large truck was knocked off the railroad tracks and the child was pinned inside the vehicle.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Columbia City Police Department, Columbia Township and Columbia City Fire Departments all responded to the scene.

Occupants of the service truck were not injured. The accident remains under investigation by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
