Mary Hilger, the 2D art teacher at Indian Springs Middle School, has been working with sixth-grade art students to teach many cultural aspects of the Maya, Inca, and Aztec civilizations, including food, music, and artifacts.
Besides creating colorful drawings of Mesoamerican vases, her students are getting a close look at the Hispanic culture in the real world.
Hilger developed a cultural exchange to help the students understand Hispanic culture, and become aware of the poverty of Central America.
