Dale Grigsby, 91

COLUMBIA CITY — Dale A. Grigsby, 91, of Columbia City, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at his home.
He was born Nov. 7, 1919 in Allegan, Mich., a son of Gerald and Norma (Emmons) Grigsby.
He graduated from Otsego High School in Michigan and received his bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.
In 1941, he began his employment at General Electric. He retired in 1985 as a Transformer Process Specialist.
On July 17, 1942, he was united in marriage to Joan K. Blum. They resided in Fort Wayne until 1946 when they moved to East North Street, Columbia City. Mrs. Grigsby preceded him in death on July 1, 1995.
On June 8, 1945, he entered the United States Army infantry. His honorable discharge was July 18, 1946.
His memberships included Grace Lutheran Church, Quarter Century Club and was a past president of Kiwanis.
Surviving relatives include four sons, Jeffrey (Beth) Grigsby of Minnesota, Phillip (Christine) Grigsby of Fort Wayne, Casey Grigsby of Florida and Todd (Deanna) Grigsby of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson; a great granddaughter; a brother, Norman Grigsby; and a sister, Geraldine DeHoan.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
