Daniel R. Harshman, 76, of San Antonio and formerly of South Whitley, passed away Saturday May 24, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. 
Dan was born June 14, 1937, to Wendell and Alice (Stump) Harshman.
On Sept. 5, 1959, he married Mimi Freund who survives in San Antonio.
Dan graduated from South Whitley High School with the Class of 1955. He went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1961.
After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force and became a pilot. He served in Vietnam and retired from the Air Force with the rank of major after 20 years. 
He was then owner of Harshman Sales until his second retirement in 2010.
Dan is survived by his wife Mimi; daughter, Sarah Hammond of Austin, Texas; grandson, Jacob Hammond; mother, Alice (Harshman) McGaugh; one sister, Martha (Eddie) Myers; sister-in-law, Pat Harshman of Marion, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews. 
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Wendell; brother, Paul D. Harshman; stepfather, Rod McGaugh; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Evalyn Freund.
There will be a memorial service in honor of Dan’s life, in South Whitley later this summer.
