COLUMBIA CITY — At the Columbia City’s Common Council meeting last week, Mark Green, parks and recreation director, reported the fireworks/4th of July celebration will be held Tuesday, July 3 this year at Morsches Park.
“I think the thought behind it was when the fireworks go later, because it gets darker later, people can sleep in the next day,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel.
There will be vendors again this year, starting approximately 5 p.m.
“It’s going to be a pretty neat day,” said Daniel.
Daniel asked Parks and Recreation director Mark Green if there would be a band playing as well.
“Actually, Spike and the Buldogs will be coming back,” said Green.
Daniel hopes this third of July celebration will be a great success, and said he hopes to see several private vendors there.
“Calling all vendors,”announced Daniel.
Green also said the Firecracker 5K will be held July 14. The race will begin at Morsches Park at 8 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $15 and race day cost is $20.
