COLUMBIA CITY â€” At the Columbia Cityâ€™s Common Council meeting last week, Mark Green, parks and recreation director, reported the fireworks/4th of July celebration will be held Tuesday, July 3 this year at Morsches Park.
â€śI think the thought behind it was when the fireworks go later, because it gets darker later, people can sleep in the next day,â€ť said Mayor Ryan Daniel.
There will be vendors again this year, starting approximately 5 p.m.
â€śItâ€™s going to be a pretty neat day,â€ť said Daniel.
Daniel asked Parks and Recreation director Mark Green if there would be a band playing as well.
â€śActually, Spike and the Buldogs will be coming back,â€ť said Green.
Daniel hopes this third of July celebration will be a great success, and said he hopes to see several private vendors there.
â€śCalling all vendors,â€ťannounced Daniel.
Green also said the Firecracker 5K will be held July 14. The race will begin at Morsches Park at 8 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $15 and race day cost is $20.
