DAZZLING DEBUT: Whitley County Dazzlers earn ‘outstanding’ in first contest

The Whitley County Dazzlers cheerleading squad is comprised of Mary Hyndman, Payton Jagger, Alisha Kimmel, Sydney Pequignot, Samara Pfeiffer, Brooke Silk and Coaches Vanessa Bills, Kaycee Bills and Sarah Horn.

FORT WAYNE – The Whitley County Dazzlers performed at their first cheerleading competition Feb. 11 at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne.
The Whitley County troupe received the Outstanding Performance Award for cheerleaders in the Special Needs category at the Speedway Slam for Great Lakes Cheerleading Competition.
The cheerleading squad includes Mary Hyndman, Payton Jagger, Alisha Kimmel, Sydney Pequignot, Samara Pfeiffer, Brooke Silk.
Coaches include Vanessa Bills, Kaycee Bills, sophomore at University of St. Francis, and Sarah Horn, junior at Churubusco High School.
A grant for the cheerleading uniforms was provided by the Whitley County Community Foundation’s “Count Me In” committee. Also, hair styles and hair bows for the competition were funded by a grant from The HANDS (Helping Achieve New Directions through Students) Foundation.
The Dazzlers will perform again during the half-time of a college basketball game at the University of St. Francis. In March, they will compete at the U.S. Cheerleading Finals in Indianapolis.
