COLUMBIA CITY — Monday night’s Columbia City Northeast Hoosier Conference softball game against the visiting DeKalb Lady Barons took barely an hour and a half to complete.

With both pitchers limiting the offensive opportunities for both teams, the contest would come down to any miscues in the field.

Unfortunately for the Lady Eagles, three errors accounted directly for Lady Baron runs as DeKalb handed the Lady Eagles a 4-0 loss.

Two errors put the Lady Eagles in a hole in the first inning.

After two fly-outs, a single to DeKalb left fielder Katie Moreland, and a walk, put two base runners on for the Lady Barons.

The Columbia City catcher overthrew third base on a pickoff attempt, sending the first Dekalb run across the plate and the other Lady Baron base runner to third.

An error at first base gave the Barons a 2-0 lead.
