DeKalb downs Lady Eagles

COLUMBIA CITY — The Lady Eagles basketball team tried but couldn’t keep up against visiting Northeast Hoosier Conference opponent DeKalb Lady Barons, losing 46-33.

The first quarter saw six lead changes and three ties.The Lady Eagles got scoring contributions from five different players in the opening period, with Emily Whitleather’s five points leading.

Columbia City got in foul trouble late in the first; DeKalb went 3-for-6 from the line and got a Rineheart jumper to end the quarter leading 14-12.

The Lady Eagles headed into the locker room at halftime with the scoreboard reading 24-17 in favor of the visitors.

Columbia City got within 13 but couldn’t pull any closer, losing by a final of 46-33. Whiteleather finished the game leading in boards (11) and tied for second in points (7, Opliger).
