Delays continue for county sports

   The number of days canceled are starting to catch up with the amount of games played and for some teams it’s surpassed.
   Heavy rain this week has kept the Whitley County sports schedule from having a full night of action.
   Keeping up with schedule changes has Friday as a day filled with make-ups.
   Both Columbia City baseball and softball teams will play.
   The City baseball team will host Bellmont after having a game called off earlier this week. The Eagles scheduled game at Huntington North Friday was moved to Monday.
   Other reschedules for baseball are: host Leo Wednesday and host Northrop May 9.
   The junior varsity baseball team will be at Bellmont Friday.
   The Columbia City softball team is hoping to play its first game since April 13 today at home against Warsaw. CC heads to Bellmont Friday to open the Northeast Hoosier Conference.
   The Lady Eagles have canceled 9 of 11 scheduled games so far this season.
   CC softball also added a game at Lakewood Park Christian Academy May 5.
   Whitko baseball will make up its canceled game at Tippecanoe Valley Friday.
   The junior varsity baseball team will host North Miami 10 a.m. May 7.
   The Lady Wildcats softball team has a list of make-up games including its trip to Tippy Valley May 12.
   Other Whitko softball rescheduled games are: host Columbia City Tuesday, host Central Noble May 6, host Wawasee May 7.
   Whitko girls’ tennis will have two matches made up in May. The Lady Wildcats will host Rochester May 4 and Triton May 10.
   Churubusco has been somewhat fortunate but has one make-up for both softball and baseball.
   Eagles baseball will be at Lakeland Wednesday. Softball heads to Eastside May 6.
