Delbert (Dean) Weilacher, 67 of North Hollywood, Calif., passed away March 8, 2011 at Northridge Hospital in Northridge, Calif. of complications from pneumonia. He was born March 5, 1944 to Delbert and Grace (Manago) Weilacher in Fort Wayne.
A 1962 graduate of Columbia City Joint High School, Dean earned his bachelor degree in education from Ball State University in Muncie. He began his interior design career in Fort Wayne and then moved to Holland, Mich. to teach high school art. In the early â€™70s, Dean moved to the Los Angeles area to return to the interior design business, working for several firms. He was an adjunct professor of Interior Design at Mission College prior to his death.
Dean is survived by his sisters, Carmen (Kit) Redman of Savannah, Ga. and Tina (Andy) Hawking of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also, nieces and nephews, Aaron and Monica Redman and Claire, Drew and Brian Hawking.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Dean was blessed and loved by a number of dear friends in Los Angeles who were so helpful during his illness. Deanâ€™s legacy lives in many of his art pieces which he generously shared.
A celebration of life memorial service was held March 20 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tarzana, Calif. Burial of cremains at Nolt Cemetery will be private for the family.
