Delightful Christmas trees

December 7, 2010

Post & Mail photo/ Becky Hand — Cole Civiletto, 3, and Leslee Derbeck with son Zavier, 4, all of Columbia City look over the tree decorated by Habitat for Humanity with the home handyman in mind at the first Christmas Tree Walk hosted by the Clugston Senior Apartments. Businesses and organizations have decorated several trees that will be raffled off. The Christmas tree walk continues 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday with raffle winners drawn at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The second weekend of the Clugston’s first Christmas Walk was well received according to director Tammy Nicholson. “I think the community is thankful for this.”
The event in the lobby of the Clugston features several artificial trees decorated by local businesses and organizations. Each tree will be raffled off to one lucky person who voted for that particular tree, with decorations included.
The Christmas Walk will conclude this weekend, running from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, coinciding with the carriage rides through scenic Columbia City, given for a freewill offering. The raffle drawings for the trees will take place at the Clugston at 6 p.m. The people’s choice winner will also be announced then.
CLugston Resident Karen White says she would like to see this event continue, “It wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for Tammy (Nicholson).”
