Deloris Reavis, 79

Deloris Joan Reavis, 79, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:58 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at her son’s home in rural Columbia City.
Born Dec. 5, 1932, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of William Frederick and Alta Leota (Downing) Breisch.
Raised in Whitley County, she also lived in Peru, Fort Wayne and Noble County before returning to Etna-Troy Township in 1983. She graduated from Columbia City High School with the class of 1951.
On May 6, 1955, she married Robert Eugene Reavis in Syracuse. For more than 35 years she worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for numerous families in the Whitley County area.
She and her husband owned and operated Checker Gas Station on S. Main St. Columbia City, for 10 years. She attended Blue River Community Church.
Surviving relatives include her three sons, Robert J., Jeffrey A. (Joanie) and Douglas E. (Christine) Reavis all of Columbia City; six grandchildren and sister, Evelyn Geiger of Albion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Eugene Reavis; one sister, Marjorie Lock and three brothers, Paul, William and Carl Breisch.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.
Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mrs. Reavis to the American Cancer Society or Whitley County Council on Aging.
