DETAILS STILL IN WORK: New pool to be a ‘destination’

Columbia City’s Park Board is still in discussion on the final details of the proposed new pool, which is expected to begin construction next spring, pending land acquisition.

COLUMBIA CTIY — While some may be shocked at the approximate $3.5 million pricetag on the proposed new aquatics facility in Columbia City, officials say the pool is meant to be more than a replacement for Burnworth Memorial Pool. “This is not your normal city pool,” said Columbia City Park Director Mark Green. “This is a destination that will draw people from well outside of Whitley County.”
