DEVOL FIELD TO SEE IMPROVEMENTS: Wigent gets nod

March 30, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — By unanimous vote and with a price tag of $14,500, Wigent Excavating was awarded the DeVol Field project by Columbia City Park Board members at its monthly meeting Monday evening. Improvements include grating, tile and drainage.

With three bids received for the project, Moyer Excavating (South Whitley) and Star Excavating (Huntington) also quoted on the project. "The quote from Moyer Excavating only included two catch basins and it was a little bit cheaper at $12,600,” Park Director Mark Green said. “I also had a quote from Star Excavating, who did the Huntington fields, with a detailed quote including three catch basins at $45,800.”

Funding for the project is available in the Cumulative Fund and will begin immediately, based on Wigent‘s current schedule.
