DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN: Program touts local, national achievements

Hannah Schaefer was named the 2014 Distinguished Young Woman for Whitley County in September of 2013.

COLUMBIA CITY — At the completion of the 57th Annual Distinguished Young Woman/Junior Miss program in Mobile, Ala. June 28, statistics of the national, state and local programs were released. A total of 314 local programs throughout America accounted for 4,124 contestants. As the 49th representative for Whitely County is Hannah Schaefer, who placed in the “Top Ten” of the Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana program.
As a finalist, she won a $500 cash scholarship. At the local level Schaefer won a total of $700 in cash scholarships.
