Donald Schwenn, 81

Donald A. Schwenn, 81, passed away Jan. 8, 2011. He was born Nov. 28, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wis. to Walter and Helen Schwenn.
He proudly served in the United States Army. After his discharge from the military, he moved to Minneapolis/ St.Paul, Minn. In 1960, he moved to Columbia City. There he owned and operated Viking Inc. for 55 years.
Donald was also an avid member of the Blue Lodge 189, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Mizpah & Mahi Shrine Temples, Road Runner for Tampa Shrine Hospital, American legion Post 98 & 222, Eagles Aerie 1906 & 3700, and Elks. He also was a past President of Whitley Co. Shrine Club, Whitley Co. Shrine Circus Chairman, donkey patrol and a Ft. Lauderdale Seafarer.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Steven (Vickie) Schwenn and Susan (Claude); grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelly, Jordan, Courtnee “Waterbug,” and Jonathan; and brothers, Walter and Phillip.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary L.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 200 W. Copans Road, Pompano Beach, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 and/or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
