Garret Shepherd, a first grade student at Little Turtle Elementary School, recently set up a lemonade stand at Kroger for National Lemonade Stand Day, which has the purpose of teaching children about operating their own business.

He was told by his parents that he could spend, save and give some of his earnings to a local charitable organization.

With his brother Gavin’s help, he chose to purchase a wagon full of dog food for the Whitley County Humane Shelter.

Pat Dean from the shelter was grateful for his donation.
