Doris Pauline Lewark, 82 of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Lewark was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Paul B. and Mary F. (Mertz) Cox. On July 24, 1948, she married Walter E. Lewark in Roanoke. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2005.
She graduated from Roanoke High School as valedictorian of the class of 1947, worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, was devoted to her husband and family, was an animal lover, especially dogs and cats, and enjoyed painting.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Lisa (Lynn) Nicholson of Roanoke and Lori Mosher of Denver, Colo.; a son, Gregory (Kimberly) Lewark of Columbia City; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tara Mae Lewark.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, and one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home with her nephew, Dr. Randall McQueen, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
