COLUMBIA CITY â€” Art of all kinds will be displayed on the courthouse lawn Saturday. The 11th Annual Juried Whitley County Autumn Art Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is free.
The local Boy Scouts Troop #94 will start the morning off with an opening celebration. The rest of the day will feature other local acts performing under the gazebo and around the courthouse.
For the art lover, an array of juried artists will sell their wares. Items to be displayed include everything from woodworking, pottery and gourd art to jewelry, metal work and photography.
Local artist, Debbie Minier, will be coordinating the popular Childrenâ€™s Activity Tent which houses â€śLittle Picassoâ€ť acrylic painting, face painting, nature art, shell and wood art, edible chocolate clay, bubble art and more.
A Student Art Show featuring local students will take place at City Hall. The Silent Art Auction will be held again this year and will feature Chair-ish. Chair-ish is a redesign of 15 chairs by individuals or organizations.
For those who want to expand their art skills, live demonstrations will be held throughout the day.
Carriage rides will be given by Steve Corneilus and there will be a chalk walk sponsored by the Peabody Library.
The Humane Society Pet Road Show will be parading pets around the square along with an adopt-a-pet program and art project.
Proceeds from the event will fund a scholarship for furthering the education of a local art student.
