January 29, 2013

Michael Raber

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man arrested last week on drug charges had his first appearance in court Monday.

Michael Raber, 26 arrested Thursday and charged with six counts. He was charged with two counts of dealing in methamphetamine, a Class B felony; one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony; one count of possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a Class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Case reports allege that an informant visited Raber twice last week to make purchases. The buys were scheduled to take place at Budget Inn, Columbia City. It is alleged that a hypodermic needle containing .3 cc’s of meth and 20 pills identified as Tramadol was purchased from Raber and his girlfriend on Tuesday, Jan. 22 for $100.

After this event allegedly occurred, reports said Raber left the motel and went to an address in rural Columbia City to obtain more drugs.

A follow-up purchase was allegedly made on Thursday. Raber was met at the Budget Inn and an informant purchased a baggy containing white powder which was purported to be 1.5 grams of meth for $120. The powder was later field tested and was determined to not be methamphetamine.

After Raber’s arrest, other items were found at the scene, such as empty soda bottles.

Raber will be back in court on March 4 for pre-trial conference. His attorney will be Scott Lennox.
