Drusella A. Joker, 95, of Columbia City, died at 11:50 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since September 2013.
She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Columbia Township, a daughter of Floyd and Myrtle (Grable) Gawthrop.
As a young girl, her family moved into Columbia City from their farm. She graduated from Columbia City High School.
On Dec. 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ralph M. Joker. They made their home in Columbia Township until 2003 when they moved into Columbia City. Mr. Joker died Jan. 11, 2008.
She was a member of American Legion Post #98 Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post #5582 Auxiliary and Eagles #1906 Auxiliary.
Surviving relatives include two children, Michael M. (Cheryl) Joker of Frazeysburg Ohio, and Michele A. (Rick) Cole of Columbia City; two grandchildren, Josh (Rachel) Creech and Sean (Sonia) Joker; and two great-grandchildren, Blake (Dana Sordelet) Creech and Riley Harter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Theo, Thurlo and Thurman Gawthrop; and two sisters, Dorothy Rudig and Doris Roebuck.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with the family receiving friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
