WARSAW — “We got the hex off of Columbia City golf for the 10-year drought.”
Those words from Columbia City Boys Golf Head Coach Andrew Thompson sum up what was an outstanding day, as the Eagles advanced to the regional round for the first time since 2003.
Columbia City came in third at the sectional at Stonehenge Country Club, five strokes behind the host-Tigers, who won with a score of 314. Triton was second, four strokes ahead of the Eagles’ 319.
“We’re ecstatic to move on as a team,” Thompson said. “It was a good tournament over there, we were playing with some people we had to beat. We got that third spot and were just an eyelash away from Warsaw. We would have loved to break the 28-year sectional drought, but we’re happy to move on.”
