Eagle harriers come in third at Warsaw Invite

WARSAW — Columbia City’s boys cross country team took third place at the Warsaw Cross Country Classic Tuesday.

Evan Harney clocked a 16:31 for the Eagles to take third and pace the squad. He was less than seven seconds off of the winning time from Warsaw’s Ellis Coon.

His total was part of 116 overall points for the Eagles. Warsaw won with 31 points.

Gage Emrick was 25th for Columbia City, and Dallas Piotrowski was 27th. Evan Sauers and Seth Kissinger were 32nd and 33rd.

“This was an outstanding race by all team members,” said Columbia City Head Cross Country Coach Bob Fahl. “They are doing nice group, pack running.”

Fahl lauded the efforts especially of his top two finishers from Tuesday.
“Gage Emrick continues to improve, challenge his teammates and excel,” Fahl said. “Evan Harney, with his third-place finish among so many great runners, shows that he is poised to run with the area’s best.”

Whitko was 10th in the boys race with 260 points.

Derek Miller led the Wildcats by coming in 39th. Josh Wright was 57th and Lane Wolf came in 70th for Whitko.
