ALBION ‚ÄĒ Columbia City‚Äôs golf team ended its regular season with a 172-193 win over Central Noble Wednesday at Cobblestone Golf Course.
‚ÄúI was really happy with the guys. I thought they did a good job,‚ÄĚ Columbia City Head Coach Andrew Thompson said.
The Eagles are now 4-11 and have won their last two matches.
‚ÄúWe‚Äôve had a struggling season,‚ÄĚ Thompson said. ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs good to win our last two going into sectionals.
‚ÄúWe‚Äôll take the momentum and run with it tomorrow at Stonehenge.
Columbia City is expected to tee-off from 10:50 to 11:30 a.m.
Max Dryer was the match medalist with a 40.
‚ÄúThat was a good way for Max to close out the season,‚ÄĚ Thompson said. ‚ÄúThat was an outstanding effort on the road on a course he‚Äôs never played.‚ÄĚ
Dryer was unable to play the previous two matches due to injury.
Seniors Dustin Parrett and Drew Burnsworth both shot 43s.
Fellow senior Tucker Daniel scored a 48 for the junior varsity team.
‚ÄúI give kudos to Tucker for his work ethic this season,‚ÄĚ Thompson said.
Drew Benedict scored a 46 in the varsity match and Trent Murphy rounded off varsity play with a 48.
Derek Philbee was the medalist in the junior varsity match.
The Eagles won 194-255 and finished their season with a 7-8 record.
Whitko is also competing in Friday morning‚Äôs sectional at Stonehenge.The Wildcats are scheduled to tee-off between 12 and 12:40 p.m.
Churubusco is in the East Noble sectional at Noble Hawk, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.View more articles in:
