Eagles fall in heart-breaker

September 22, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — They say close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but the Columbia City Eagle football squad came as close as possible without winning to downing undefeated Northeast Hoosier Conference foe New Haven on a wet, rainy homecoming night.

The Eagles fell by a single point in overtime, 28-27, to the Class 4A ninth-ranked Bulldogs.

The loss evens the Eagle record at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Northeast Hoosier Conference.
