GARRETT — Columbia City’s baseball team outscored Garrett 18-7 combined in a double-header Saturday. Yet, the Eagles yet took a game and gave up the other to the Railroaders.

The morning game was the Ryan Kerschner show, both at the plate and on the mound. Columbia City won decisively 12-0 as Kerschner threw a two-hit shutout from the mound and hit his fourth home run of the season.

He struck out seven Railroaders and gave up one walk and one hit-by-pitch.

Kerschner was helped out by solid defensive play by his fellow Eagles who only committed one error. This compared to the five given up by Garrett.

After a scoreless first inning, the Eagle onslaught tipped off in the top of the second with a Travis Herbst run to take a 1-0.
