CHURUBUSCO â Churubuscoâs football team opened 2013 with an impressive shutout victory over Fremont Friday.
Now, the Eagles want to keep their momentum going, and will welcome Central Noble this Friday for their home opener in Churubusco.
Recognition from around the state has already come the Eaglesâ way. They opened the year ranked 10th in the Class 2A Associated Press preseason poll and moved up to eighth for this week after defeating Fremont.
âBusco beat Fremont 56-0 last week to open the year at 1-0. Central Noble fell to Fairfield last week, 35-21, and is now 0-1.
Last season, the Eagles rolled over the Cougars by a score of 61-6. Despite that score, and the fact that Central Nobleâs last win over Churubusco was in 2003, Eagle Head Football Coach Paul Sade said his team is not taking the Cougars lightly.
âWe heard they played well in their scrimmage against Woodlan,â he said Friday after the win at Fremont. âWe are ready to work and will assume that they are good.â
Central Noble has a new coach at the helm this year, Jeremy Yates. Sade said that is part of the reason for the fire he expects from the Cougars.
