COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s boys basketball team broke a four-game losing streak Thursday night at home against Carroll.
The Eagles beat the Chargers by 10 points earlier this season at the holiday tournament and won 45-39 in the official Northeast Hoosier Conference match-up.
The low-scoring game had only eight Columbia City field goals in the entire 32 minutes.
Both teams only had three points each after over four minutes of play and Carroll finished the first quarter with the lead, 13-8.
With 6:19 left in the game, Carroll’s Keller Guitierrez scored and White was the only player to contribute offensively for the Chargers for the rest of the game.
Columbia City only gave up 17 points in the last 16 minutes.
Meanwhile Columbia City had contributions from Hinen (4), Woll (4) and Brandon Gay, who shot 5-for-6 in free throws in the last two minutes to seal the win for the Eagles, 45-39.
Woll led Columbia City in scoring with 13 points, four blocks and 10 rebounds, followed by Rethlake with 10 points and Hinen at eight points and team-high two assists.
Columbia City is back in action Saturday at Marion.View more articles in:
