Eagles take second at Northrop golf Inv.

April 15, 2013

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City’s freshmen continue to lead the Eagles’ golf team, as Tyler Green and Spencer Klimek took first and second place at the Northrop Invitational Saturday.

In a pool of six teams, Green and Klimek tied with Sebastian Eckert, of Huntington North, finishing their rounds in 80 strokes.

Green won the playoff, followed by Klimek.

In cold, damp weather, Columbia City Head Coach Andrew Thompson was proud of the pair.

“It was great to see them do so well in those conditions,” Thompson said. “We were awfully close to the team title.”

Columbia City took second behind Wawasee (337), which finished with five strokes less than the Eagles (342).

Huntington North came in third, Northrop finished fourth, Whitko placed fifth and Canterbury came in sixth Saturday.
