Eagles' track and field takes third at Luers

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City’s boys track and field squad captured third in the team race at Bishop Luers Saturday.

The Eagles rolled up 79 team points. Leo won with a score of 110 and Norwell was second with 96.

Columbia City took first place in one relay and one individual event.

Mitchell Maloney grabbed first in the pole vault with a height of 10-6.

The distance medley relay team of Evan Harney, Austin Beachy, Andrew McFarland and Seth Kissinger came in first with a time of 12:36.96.

Eagle runners took second in one event as well. The 800-meter relay team of Sam Dailey, Wayne Smith, Davin Lawrence and Kissinger was runner-up in its event with a time of 1:40.71, four seconds behind winning Leo.

Columbia City will be back in action in a Northeast Hoosier Conference meet Tuesday at Norwell. DeKalb will also participate in the triangular meet.
