EARLY BIRDS VOTE: Election brings about 7 ballots on first day of absentee voting

April 9, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — Seven Whitley County voters cast ballots on the first day of absentee primary voting Tuesday. Absentee ballots may be cast at the Voter Registration Office at the Whitley County Courthouse, 101 W. Van Buren St, Room 18, Columbia City, during business hours, until May 5 at noon. The primary election day is May 6.

A photo identification is required. A person does not need a reason to vote early. Office hours for early voting are weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Two Saturdays will also have voting hours: April 26 and May 3. The hours for those dates are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Primary elections determine the nominee for each party before the general election. Individuals that wish to vote in the primary do not have to register for a party, but do have to select which party’s ballot they wish to vote for in the primary.
