COLUMBIA CITY — Continuing the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the EDC recently recognized five industries for their contributions to Whitley County’s economic development efforts at an event held at Joseph Decuis Farm in Whitley County.
“Over the course of the year, we have celebrated the long-standing commitment of this community to our local economic development efforts,” said EDC President Alan Tio, “With this recognition we are turning the spotlight on industry pillars that have made substantial contributions to our economic success.”
The five inaugural “Whitley County Architects” are: 80/20 Inc., C&A Tool Engineering Inc., Micropulse Inc., Steel Dynamics Structural Steel & Rail Division, and Ultra Electronics-USSI.
Each of these companies has worked with the EDC to support numerous significant investments at their respective Whitley County facilities. These companies now collectively have more than 2,000 employees, which represents 15 percent of total employment in Whitley County.
“Over the past 15 years we expanded five times and grown from 63,000 square feet to over 250,000 square feet and reached 350 wonderful employees,” said 80/20 Founder and CEO Don Wood, “it is a pleasure to receive this award and I am looking forward to future projects, to more expansions, and to adding more jobs in Whitley County.”
