Edna Mae DePoy, 86, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at 8:26 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Columbia City the daughter of Lee and Eva (Snepp) Walker, Sr.
Edna attended Columbia City High School, and she was a Whitley County resident most of her lifetime, except for a brief period when she lived in New Haven for five years.
She married Glenn L. DePoy Oct. 29, 1977, at Washington Center United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and formerly was employed at General Electric, Blue Bell and Millerâ€™s Merry Manor for 10 years.
She was a member of Washington Center United Methodist Church and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years Glenn L. DePoy of Columbia City; one daughter, Sarah E. (Kim) Rider of Columbia City; three grandsons, Travis L. (Belinda) Rider of Larwill, Tristan L. and Trey L. Rider both of Columbia City; four great-grandchildren, Alexys, Andreu, Tanner and Jack; three sisters, Gladys Gamble and Stella Shaffer both of Columbia City and Grace (Richard) Scott of Waynedale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Walker, Jr. and two brother in-laws, Dale Gamble and Joseph Shaffer.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor William Rapp of Washington Center United Methodist Church will be officiating. The burial will follow South Park Cemetery.
