COLUMBIA CITY — One of Whitley County Consolidated School Corporation’s tenants in the Marshall Community Building is moving out.
Superintendent Dr. Patricia O’Connor read a letter to the corporation’s Board of School Trustees Monday night from Robert Huffman, Executive Director of Region 8 Education Service Center, which had its headquarters located in Columbia City for more than five years.
“It is with a degree of sadness that I find myself writing this letter to you,” wrote Huffman.
“Whenever there was a need, it was met, whenever there was a question, it was answered, whenever there was a need to share space, it was accommodated…,” wrote Huffman.
The organization is moving to a new location just north of Decatur at Monmouth Elementary School.
According to Huffman, Region 8 ESC serves 33 school corporations.
“The space provided was exceptional for us to be able to provide services,” wrote Huffman of the Marshall building.
Huffman said his organization has seen the conception and progress of WCCS’s much anticipated Eagle Tech.
“It is also with a sense of pride that we had a small part in helping with the coordination of efforts for the New Tech High Schools now happening in several of our school districts,” wrote Huffman. “You are to be commended for moving forward in the best interest of the students of Whitley County.”
According to Region 8’s website, the move to Decatur will take place during the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
