Educators evaluated with 22 deemed ‘highly effective’

April 9, 2014

PIERCETON — It isn’t just students being graded in schools across Indiana. Teachers were recently evaluated and ranked on a 0 to 4 scale.

The Indiana Department of Education released the results earlier this week and reported one district in Whitley County that fell into the mandated evaluation criteria.

Whitko Community School Corporation evaluated 109 educators. Of those teachers, 22 were deemed “highly effective,” 85 were given a status of “effective” and 2 were designated as “improvement necessary.”

The release marks the first time this type of data has been gathered or released in Indiana’s history.
