Election '11: Mayoral candidate quotes

November 5, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY — Here are quotes from candidates vying for the position of Mayor of Columbia City. The election is Nov. 8. Be sure to pick up The Post and Mail or subscribe to the e-edition for full candidate profiles.

Ryan Daniel: “I’m running for mayor to give back to my hometown. After working with 66 communities and over 20 different mayors in rural Indiana, I knew it was time for me to focus my education and experience on Columbia City. By growing our community, bringing in more jobs, keeping utility rates low, and providing and efficient and effective government, we can realize a brighter future for Columbia City!”

Cathy Heritier: "I am a firm believer that sensible, fiscally conservative government should be run like a business. Being an entrepreneur in downtown Columbia City for the last 13 years has given me a picture window view into the operations of downtown businesses and City Government alike; taking note of what works well and what could use improving. I believe that my experiences as an elected executive leader of the Whitley County 4-H and operating my downtown business with practices based in fiscal conservatism gives me an enormous advantage to leading Columbia City into the next generation."

Scott Wise: “I have a wealth of experience in life, business, and government. I was born in this community, chose to make my home here as an adult, raised and continue to help raise children here, and will do everything in my power as Mayor to guide our community through difficult times without placing further burden on our taxpayers.”
