COLUMBIA CITY— Discussions have begun on the possibility of Whitley County titling two of its ambulances to Parkview Hospitals.
County Commissioner Chairman George Schrumpf said this is an accounting practice for Parkview that will not affect the books for Whitley County at all.
A decision has not been formally made, however, as it was tabled at the Aug. 5 commissioner meeting.
Schrumpf said Parkview has bought two ambulances, and the county two, during the current phase of their agreement.
He added that if the county or Parkview pulls out of the five-year agreement, the county gets the ambulances either way.
As a factor for negotiating the EMS contract, Schrumpf said this could put the county in an advantageous position the next time it negotiates with Parkview.
