Evelyn Fritz, 96

LIGONIER — Evelyn I. Fritz, 96, of Ligonier, died at 3:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Avalon Village, Ligonier where she had been a resident since 2009.
She was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Whitley County, a daughter of Joseph and Grace (Bennett) Cunningham.
Her formative years were spent in the Larwill area.
She completed her education at Larwill High School.
In 1947, she married A.A. “Aquilla” Marker.
They made their home south of Etna. Mr. Marker died July 1, 1968.
She later married Ralph Fritz. They made their home in South Whitley.
Mr. Fritz died in 1983.
In December, 2006, Evelyn moved to Ligonier to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Judy Marker.
She was employed at Fibre Form and was a former member of Columbia City Order of the Eastern Star #65.
Surviving relatives include two sons, James William (Judy) Marker of Ligonier and Larry J. (Diane) Marker of Kendallville; two step-daughters, Margaret Ober of Kendallville and Vera (Donald) Shively of South Whitley; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two step daughters, June Hibbs and Josephine Yunker; a step grandson; a step great grandson; and a brother, Burtis Cunningham.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in the Keister Section of Scott Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
