FALLEN 'BROTHER': Local firemen pay tribute

November 19, 2012

CHURUBUSCO — A Fort Wayne fireman was laid to rest at Churubusco’s Riverview Cemetery Saturday, after he was killed in the line of duty last week.

Fireman Mark A. Haudenschild II, Washington Township (Allen County), was killed after the tanker he was driving flipped over en route to a grass fire.

More than 1,000 people attended the funeral — firemen and fire trucks from every department in Whitley County were in attendance.

“Today I witnessed the strength and the magnitude of the brotherhood,” Columbia Township Fireman Ed Scott said. “I thought it was wonderful to see someone from every department there.”
