FARMERS MARKET LANDS SPONSOR: Board created with Parkview Whitley Hospital

April 29, 2014

Officials have announced that Parkview Whitley Hospital will be the sponsor for the Whitley County Farmer’s Market.

The seasonal market will open Saturday, May 10 at 8 a.m. and will be at the Whitley County Courthouse Square until 12:30 p.m. The Whitley County Farmer’s Market sets up shop each Saturday through fall.

Matt Hopf is the board’s president. He is joined by Whitley County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Doug Brown, Jennifer Zartman-Romano, Jane Loomis, Michael McCoy, Tom Hartzell and Scott Gabriel.

More than 50 vendors will bring a variety of plants, vegetables, baked good and crafts to the square.

“The best thing about the market is the sense of community that one feels when they visit the market,” said Hopf.

“This sense of community occurs when individuals can actually shake the hand of the person who grew their food or made their product, and develop a true connection with their food and product not often found in today’s society.”

“I decided to become part of the board so that I can help to ensure that the market continues to grow and flourish,” he said.
