SOUTH WHITLEY — Controversy over a white, vinyl fence continued at the South Whitley Town Council meeting July 23.

Bruce Gable, of South Whitley, was on hand with several residents to see what the town had decided after the complaint of a fence was brought up at a previous meeting.

According to Gable, a home located at 704 N. Cherry Ln., South Whitley, has erected a fence within a utility easement. Gable’s understanding was the neighborhood covenants stated no fences were allowed.

Town Manager Dave Wilkinson contacted the county to see what restrictions were on file, and confirmed that there was no provision for the fence.
