Fire breaks out at Kendallville business

January 17, 2014

KENDALLVILLE -- Several departments worked together to put out a massive fire that consumed a Kendallville business Friday morning.

Fire crews were originally called at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The structure was so involved that at least seven departments from the outlying areas were called in to assist.

According to area media, dispatchers received calls about the fire as far as a mile away. The building was destroyed in the blaze. Police shut down traffic to Main and Mitchell streets to clean up the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported. Dispatchers say one of the businesses housed inside the building is "Green Side Up," a landscaping business.
