FIREWORKS: Additional dates fall on Fall Festival

September 13, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Board of Works established additional days for citizens to shoot off consumer grade fireworks at its meeting Tuesday.
According to Columbia City Fire Chief Tom LaRue, fireworks can be set off Friday, Sept. 21, Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23 at specific times on those dates.
“The time frames would be that Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.,” said LaRue.
According to LaRue, the moisture levels, brought on by consistent rain throughout this month and last month, has made the city’s Fall Festival a good and safe time of the year for citizens to light off their consumer-grade fireworks.
