COLUMBIA CITY — Having sworn-in Sunday and with the lay-over passed, Mayor Ryan Daniel spent the first day at his new office job Tuesday, wearing different hats throughout the day.
After rising while streets were still lit only by streetlights, the Mayor hosted a breakfast at the Eagle Nest Event Center for all city employees from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
Once finished, Daniel went to his office at City Hall to familiarize himself with his new surroundings and attend to mayoral duties.
At 5:15 p.m., Daniel had his first official meeting as Mayor, specifically with the Board of Works.
Less than two hours later, Daniel took part in the first Columbia City Common Council meeting of 2012, his second meeting in office.
“It was an interesting experience,” Daniel said. “It’s been basically non-stop today but I’ve enjoyed it; long day, still trying to get used to the title of Mayor.”
Daniel will have plenty of time to acquaint himself with the position bestowed on him. One day down – and for now – 1,460 to go.
